Tummy Tuck New York City
I’d like to talk to you about abdominoplasties, or tummy tucks. The three main types of tummy tucks are mini-abdominoplasty or mini-tummy tuck, a standard abdominoplasty, and a circumferential abdominoplasty.
A mini-abdominoplasty involves tightening of the muscles of the lower abdomen, removal of excess skin, and possibly liposuction, if appropriate. In a standard tummy tuck, the amount of skin excision is larger than the mini-abdominoplasty, and the tightening of the abdominal muscles extends from the pubic bone all the way to the bottom of the breastbone, whereas, in the mini-abdominoplasty, it stops at the belly button, typically. In a circumferential tummy tuck, one has undergone a standard abdominoplasty, but in addition, the amount of skin removed extends all the way to the mid-line of the back, tightening the buttocks and the back in addition to the anterior abdomen, as is performed in a standard abdominoplasty.
The best candidates for tummy tuck are those patients who have had significant change in skin laxity in the lower abdomen, and changes in the abdominal wall musculature. Following a mini-abdominoplasty, somebody could be back at an office job in four days, for a standard abdominoplasty, ten days, and for a circumferential abdominoplasty, possibly in two or three weeks.
People are thrilled with the contour change that can be achieved with these procedures. Often, there is reduction in dress size, an increased interest in exercise, and an overall sense of well being.
These tummy tuck procedures can be performed in our fully accredited office facility, located on Central Park in New York City.
